HOW LONG DOES A DIVORCE TAKE

This is one of the first questions I am often asked when a client is considering and proceeding forward with a divorce. Unfortunately, there is no real answer. There are divorces that drag out for years either because of the complexity of the issues and the ability of the parties to communicate and compromise.

When the parties are open and agreeable upon how to settle their custody, debt, and property disputes a divorce can be finalized within about 60 days of service on the other party as long as the parties have lived separate and apart for that length of time.

The length of time to complete a divorce depends upon each individual circumstance. If you are thinking of filing for divorce or have been served with divorce papers, contact an attorney at The Brunk Firm, PLLC for a free consultation.
